Family Law Appeals

Sometimes a trial does not go as planned

The trial court must make difficult decisions involving your children and the division of the marital estate.

Trial Court Judges in Texas are very well experienced and, in a vast majority of the cases, try to apply the law to the facts of your case and make the best decision possible.

Judges are also human and make mistakes. At times, they make mistakes on the application of the law to a complex or detailed issue. Other times, they do not give the testimony and evidence the weight that they should and abuse their discretion when they make orders.

The Texas Court of Appeals is there to protect parties from errors made by the trial court. Keith D. Becker has extensive experience in the appellate arena.

Family law appeals are difficult and not all bad decisions are subject to appellate review. The trial court record must be protected at the time of trial, the appellate error cannot be waived and the appellate process must be timely filed.
